Yoshi Sushi

The Falls Plaza, West Bay Road
Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands

Project Size: 2,000 sq.ft.
Project Cost: US$210,000
Completion Date: July, 2006

Project Background:

Due to the devastation of Hurricane Ivan in 2004, this restaurant was virtually destroyed. The client took this opportunity to revise their concept and redesign the space from scratch. With the client's direction, we helped create a luxurious upscale atmosphere in this popular Japanese restaurant.

Strategies and Results:

The restaurant and bar areas were separated but kept a visual link through the design of patterned glass panels between the spaces. A strategically placed custom wine storage/display room with full glass walls showed off their extensive wine assortment. The use of dark woods, rich colours, unique lighting and authentic Japanese accents worked well together making the design of the renovated restaurant very well received by the dining community.

"Philip and I worked together for many months to ensure we created the right 'feel' for the restaurant. He took my original ideas and basic concepts and made them work!"

Brad Alexander, Owner,
Yoshi Sushi.
