Blue Ocean Design was hired to provide Interior Design and Construction Management services for this new DVD rental store in the popular new mall in the developing area of Savannah.

We agreed with the owner that the concept for the store would be modern/funky while maximizing floor space for DVD display.

To accommodate expected traffic in the store the floor finishes were chosen for their durability and ease of maintenance. The walls were painted in colourful but subtle hues. Cash desks and drop-box were custom designed using textured plastic laminates, decorative acrylic and aluminum accents which worked well with the manufactured ALU shelving system suspended from stainless steel poles.

Indirect fluorescent lighting was chosen for general illumination with cable suspended halogen lighting to accent the product along the perimeter walls. Decorative halogen and blue LED light fixtures highlighted the curved drywall ceiling area above the main cash desk.

Once the design drawings were completed, Blue Ocean Design was responsible for coordinating with construction sub-trades including drywall, electrical, mechanical, flooring trades as no General Contractor was taken on for this project. BOD also worked with the supplier of the DVD shelving system to ensure that it would work in the space.

The result is a space that flows well and has a "wow" factor due to the colours and specialty lighting combinations. It is a DVD rental store with a difference!
